Why only toddlers?

I have come to the difficult decision to serve toddlers ages 12 months to 29 months. I wish I could serve a greater range of children, but I have to become a licensed child care provider and follow the State’s laws. The Department of Early Learning (DEL) considers 12 months to 29 months a “toddler” and there are tons of regulations, including ratio of adults to kiddos, based on specific age ranges. In the size of space that I have, I can only serve one age group. I chose toddlers for now and hope to open a larger location in the future to serve more groups. I am very sorry for all of the families that this leaves out. Please note: I am still working with DEL on becoming licensed and there are chances of complications and delays. If all is well, I hope to provide childcare later this year.

  1. I wonder if it would be easier and serve your vision if you located your coworker space near an already-established drop-in center… Seems a lot easier anyway if you’re doing traditional Childcare!
